the mundane
During March 2022, I followed Randall Sorensen, 33 yr old Boulder County arborist, to capture an embodied view of his life. We lived next door to each other, and his existence was known because of the constant chainsaw noise, where he would mill wood in the backyard. His passion is trees and the outdoors where he finds solitude in the mountains nearby. He climbed all 14ers in Colorado, and his new goal is to climb all the 13ers. This gallery captured the mundanity of his life: where he works and struggles with addiction. Outside of the mundane, his parents’ also hosted a birthday dinner for him.

The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse
Shannon Young, from KGNU, interviewed Sara Martinelli, co-owner of the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse, to get the story and history behind the Teahouse. The Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is one result of the Boulder Dushanbe Sister Cities Project. It was constructed from 1987 to 1980 by more than 40 artisans in Tajikistan.
As his land dries, a farmer hopes to adapt
In 2022, I interviewed Andre Houssney, an organic farmer in Boulder, Colorado. He talked about his experience with climate change on the land that he’s been working with since he immigrated to the United States from Beirut to seek refuge from Lebanon’s civil war.
“I STARTED WORKING ON FARMS WHEN I WAS ABOUT 10… AND I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.”
